We were told that it was being vacuumed right then and it would be just a few more minutes. Finally, I went back to the front desk to check on the room's status. We then watched as a lobby full of guests checked in and got their rooms. We arrive before the 4:00 check in time and were told that our room was not ready, but they would expedite the cleaning so we could get in as quickly as possible. ![]() The setting is simply stunning, but we found the front desk staff to be surprisingly dismissive. Having the reputation that this place has for being such a prestigious resort, our experience was disappointing and not the magical place I was hoping it would be. The only saving grace for this was the outstanding restaurant staff and great food. $290 (including the $38 tip they gave themselves) for two sandwiches, two bananas and two bottles of $20 Prosecco.Īlso, where is the security? There were people in their 20's partying in the hot tub, super drunk, that were not even patrons of the resort so they said. I ordered a picnic basket which came with the wrong items in it. When spending this much money on a room for our engagement weekend, at the very least, we were hoping to have our coffee refilled for the next morning and the bed to made properly, not rushed and sloppy.Īs mentioned, I surprised my girlfriend and proposed to her. On top of the mice in our room, the housekeeping was not great at all. We discovered what we thought was mouse droppings on our counter on day 2, and that was confirmed when we found it in our bags when we got home. I've stayed in $200/night rooms that were nicer and cleaner than this one. For $900/night, we were definitely expecting more. When we tried to check in, the girl at the front desk told me we'd be in a room in the 300's, but what we ended up with was in the 200's and it was very disappointing. Upon arrival, our room that was supposed to be ready at 4pm was not ready until 7pm, and it was the wrong room. However she looked so pitiful covered in mud that I started laughing and that turned her tears into laughter as well. When I finally saw her coming she was about to break down in tears. My wife had a terrifying experience from the fourth bridge on. ![]() They really should have had warning signs particularly in the wet conditions. She had had a very bad experience as the trail beyond the fourth bridge had turned into a narrow muddy footpath. I waited half an hour and finally heard from her. It was only a short distance to the fourth bridge and then over a kilometre to the fifth bridge.Īfter climbing the many stairs to reach the top I drove around to the fifth bridge and she was not there yet. I turned back at the third bridge to get the car. It had been drizzling all day but as I said the trail was very good and neither of us anticipated any problems. I told her to take lots of pictures because I wanted to be able to see what I missed. ![]() I instructed my wife to continue down the trail to the fifth bridge while I climbed the stairs and there is a parking area at the fifth bridge where I would meet her. Both of us being in our 70s, I made the chivalrous gesture of climbing the stairs to get the car. My wife and I started on this path together. ![]() The path as far as the fourth bridge is steep but wide and paved with a lot of stairs. The main parking and visitor centre is at the top and the trail is paved with fences and stairs. The trail is marked in sections by the bridges you cross. In this case what goes down must come back up. This is a trail where you start at the top and go down.
